Pot Noodle

I had a pot noodle the other day and was surprised to find it didn’t taste right. I added salt and it was ok again, hmmmm thought I, they must have reduced their salt. Then I saw an advert on telly saying as much. Then I saw the lids on the pot noodles here saying the same.

What the hell are you doing Pot Noodle???

Key points here…

  • They’ve taken out ingredients
  • They’ve saved money
  • They’ve not passed this saving on to us
  • They’re giving us less for our money
  • They now taste shitty
  • We need to use our own salt to make them taste like they used to
  • This costs us more money in salt expenses
  • Adding salt by yourself is unregulated so I probably affect my health in a more adverse manner than when they did it for me
  • They are PROMOTING this!

Sort it out pot noodle, I’m quickly losing the horn…

Oh no! For years, Pot Noodle was one of the things I missed most about not living in England any more. British Grocers in the US failed to import any. They didn’t survive well in luggage when my mother came to visit. And now - they don’t taste as good?! The world is a poorer place.

Mike: No argument from me, I love a Pot Noodle.

Khyri and Lisa: I hear you(y’all). I don’t know why they decided to do this to them. I’m not saying they’re gourmet quality food or anything but you knew what you were getting. They taste like their reputation now.

Adding your own salt brings back the old flavour but it takes the edge off, if something isn’t broken, DON’T FIX IT Pot Noodle!

    Thanks for the comments.

The soya sauce sachet included doesn’t contain ordinary soya sauce - it contains the salt and other flavours missing from the newly reduced-salt formula. Just add the sachet contents and the old great taste will be restored!

Sorry Lisa I disagree. You’d need to add loads of sachets to get anywhere near the old flavour. I always added the sauce before, I always add it now. The things just taste different, for different read worse, no two ways about it.

The soy sauce sachet is disgusting; throw it straight in the bin and replace with a good quality, natural brewed soy sauce like Kikkoman (or Clearspring for pure indulgence)

I partially agree with that. I prefer a good quality Soy Sauce, however let’s not go confusing pot noodle with a gourmet noodle dish from a swanky restaurant. The sachet fits the dish perfectly IMO.

Perhaps they should rename it from Soy Sauce to Salt Juice.
