I’m so pretty

I’ve been given ‘the treatment’ by Meeester M of Misssy M hubbydom fame.

I’m pleased with the result although I think I did go thru the same emotions she did upon realisation that it’s not me at all. It’s the way I’d look if I exfoliated, had never smoked, had no kids, excercised more…

However it is me enough to be my new avatar. Thanks Meeester!

The exits are here, here and here

Congratulations to my mate Alan who got his private pilot’s licence today.

Updated!

Update 1. re: another site of mine.

I’ve finally gotten round to begin updating my scripts site, which I’ve been neglecting for way too long. Today I’ve threw on an updated WP, Download counters, brand new theme(which rocks so much it might well be finding it’s way here soon, let’s face it, y’all are bored with the orangesky now aren’t ya!(don’t forget you can change that with the theme switcher–>))

Now that brings my ‘blog’ total to 10 I think, if you count the micro-blogs(twitter/jaiku/multiply etc).

Update 2. re: Next door’s imminent sale.

The traffic(or lack of) has been back to normal today, I wonder if they’ve taken the house off the market. Though it doesn’t say it’s off the market. I wonder who’ll move in…

Update 3. re: Aberdeen Freecycle.

Aberdeen Freecycle totally rocks! I bagged a colour laser printer yesterday. Normally I’m last in the queue for those things as I get the daily digest not the individual emails. Score!

Back to school…(again)

The kids were supposed to go back to school today but due to the “broken heating” they have another day off. Jammie little gits, it’s like something from an Enid Blyton story. I didn’t think this happened anymore. Still, gets us into the routine, anyone with kids knows how important the routine is. I’ve been told since I was a boy about getting into good routine, going to bed earlier the day before you’re due back to get into the routine. It’s all bollocks of course. You drag your weary arse out of bed just in time to get the kids up, fed dressed and out to school. They of course think you are trying to kill them just because you had the audacity to wake them up pre-10AM.

Well on a normal day that would be the case but this morning I actually had everyone up, bright as buttons and ready to go. Stupid school heating.

Since I’ve not blogged for a while, Happy New Year 2008 and Merry Christmas 2007. I missed my 2nd blogging birthday which according to my research is the 26th November(ironically I DID post that day!). The essential updates are… the car is still here, partnered now with another, friendlier beast and quite possibly one of the best looking cars ever made…

New Car (and old one)

…OK that’s not necessarily true, especially in purple. Luckily you can’t see what it looks like from the driving position. I got it in Blackburn, Lancs and filled her up. Cost about £60-ish. I drove home, via Kilwinning(this was on Christmas Eve) and was still on the same tank of diesel on Hogmanay! That’s astonishing for me. The same trip in the Astro would have had me filling up again before Kilwinning and again at Aberdeen at £90 a pop or £270 for what cost me £60-odd. Savings galore!

  :!:

I also traded in my trusty Nokia 3510i after about 5 years worth of use. It’s not broken or anything I just decided that this time I’d keep the free upgrade for myself instead of giving it to Catty. I now have a Nokia 7500 Prism instead and I must say I’m well chuffed with it. Normally I am like, who cares what it can do as long as it can make and receive calls and texts I’m fine. I have a digital camera I have an mp3 player, both do their jobs better than a phone. But bugger me this is neat, it’s got an Opera mini browser so I can soif da webs and bluetooth! Bluetooth ffs. How did I cope without it! It’s a pity the other phone didn’t have it and I’d have saved myself an hour of manually inputting names and numbers. Still, them’s the breaks. It also takes pictures pretty well(see car photo above!) so I reckon it’s a keeper.

We had a Hogmanay party here, well not a huge party but a good one nonetheless. Few friends few drinks few laughs all good. Cat, a friend of ours and fantastic chef, asked the other week if there was anything she should bring. We said well if she wanted to do a couple of nibbles that’d be great. Hogmanay comes and Cat and Brian(yes the same Brian as this story) arrive and I need to go help them out the car with this…

Feast!
Good eh! We all felt like pigs by the time we went to bed but it was worth it!

Right, that’s you up to date I think, so I’ll leave you with this picture from our Christmas morning which I think shows the magic as it should be(although Catty won’t thank me for this one)….

SANTA’S BEEN!!!

Have a good 2008 guys.

New host!

I doubt anyone noticed but the-kid.org was offline for a few days there. I’ve changed hosts to GoDaddy.com so everything should be uber-stable now. I had been hosting with a friend of mine who has a reseller account for nothing, but I guess you get what you pay for! lol  I really appreciate the hosting though Aaron so cheers.

This post is also an apology in advance to Aberdeen Blogs if I mess everything up during the change.

Do What??

I was at a jobs fair the other day in the AECC with a mate. After we’d been headhunted (ok that didn’t happen) we checked out some of the jobs on the board. I wrote down the ones that most intrigued me and thought I’d share…

Title:- Temp HR Generalist

What I think that means:- A Temp HR Generalist is a very wide encompassing position…for a while. Companies need people who they can make do whatever they say without fear of “that’s not in my job description”. Generalists, especially temp generalists, fit this position. A temp Generalist has no clout in a company at all. An HR generalist is there just to make up the numbers in the HR department, I mean you couldn’t put a Generalist in charge of hiring and firing could you ?

Title:- Draughts Person

What I think that means:- Well, we all know what a draughtsperson does, but how about a draughts person(two words). Logically speaking this must be someone who does things with draughts. Perhaps they can play lengthy draughts games, or perhaps they just eat lots of curry/chilli…

Title:- West African Accountant

What I think that means:- I’m fairly sure this job title is against employment laws. You can’t normally dictate what nationality a future employee will be…

Title:- Document Advisor

What I think this means:- I have never worked in an office before but I’m fairly sure this is a made up job for tax reasons. Documents don’t need advice, they need filed.

Title:- Wealth Advisors

What I think this means:- The boy who runs to the bookies for the boss. Duties include advising the boss of any wins/losses and corresponding amounts. This title could also be a bank manager (which is basically the same job.)

In other news, as soon as we went in the door I was approached by none other than a representative of the council shoving a free pen in my hand and telling me to get on their website for a look at available jobs. Who knows, I might do that! HA!

Scrabulous

How’s this for a nice 35 pointer…

WyldRyde

I’ve realised I’ve never really blogged about IRC. I don’t know why either. So here goes.

I’ve been using IRC since I first got on the internet and after a few weeks of surfing the ‘net began to wonder “where is everyone else?” Innes mentioned some program called mIRC and gave me a copy to toy around with. I was hooked after my first day. At the time mIRC was set to default to the DALnet network. mIRC was the largest windows IRC client so DALnet was the largest IRC network. This has since changed though so now more of the other networks get a better look in. The website NetSplit has loads of IRC related stats for the more anal amongst you! I like the smaller networks however (less assholes!)

One of these great networks is the WyldRyde IRC Network which I have recently joined as part of my BlogShares journey. IRC and these smaller networks in particular are a great place to “meet” folks from all around the globe to discuss any and all subjects. I’m obviously using the blogshares channels at the moment but even within that there are many levels of discussion. Plus if you are using mIRC you can pretty much entirely customise it. I write my own scripts but there are millions of other’s available too.
